Christchurch Now Has 4 Restaurants with 2 AA Rosettes

Delighted members of Christchurch Chamber of Trade and Commerce feel that their efforts to raise the profile of Christchurch gastronomy have been worthwhile over recent years, because two more restaurants in the town have been awarded two of the prestigious AA rosettes following recent visits by the AA Inspectors. The rosettes are awarded for the quality of food and service and also take into account the standard of décor and the total ambience of the establishment.

Chamber President Tim Lloyd - himself an existing recipient of the 2-Rosette accolade with his restaurant Splinters in Church Street - said: "Over the past two years our new Food and Wine Festival has really put Christchurch on the map as a gastronomic centre. We have all been keen to draw attention to the high standards of food served in the town, whether it be quality fish and chips, scrumptious sandwiches, or the finest gourmet menus. This has encouraged additional serious restaurateurs to come into the town - and the results speak for themselves. Economically this has to be good for the vitality of business. What's more our food outlets are now monitored for performance, with the creation of the annual Christchurch Food Awards. This is all part of putting 'Gastronomic Christchurch' on every food-lover's map!"

One of the latest restaurants to open in Christchurch, The Bistro on the Bridge has just been awarded two AA Rosettes. Run by the accomplished and popular husband and wife team David and Sheila Ryan, of Bistro on the Beach fame, the restaurant opened for business last November after a major refurbishment programme in the premises of the former Le Petit St. Tropez. The team at the Waterford Lodge Manners Restaurant has also earned the AA Two-Rosette accolade. Privately owned and run by the Badley family as part of the Best Western Group, the hotel has gained a superb reputation for quality and service in the area. Both the Lord Bute restaurant in Highcliffe and Splinters Restaurant also keep their AA 2-Rosette awards from previous years.
