  Committee’s Resolutions (Jan - May)

To ask the Council to consider issuing temporary stickers for small vehicles delivering goods to shops in Wick Lane to use the loading bay.

To ask the Council for a copy of the notes of the workshop session held at the ‘Future of Christchurch’s Retail Centres’ meeting.

To advise Bournemouth University that local businesses may not be interested in advertising on a new Christchurch community radio station, as it would have limited appeal and the economic climate was poor.

To support the Council’s position that banners erected across Church Street should meet defined criteria, in particular that their message should be ‘newsworthy’.

To support future proposals to increase the car park refund scheme to include up to 2 hours where appropriate.

To pursue with the Council the inclusion of outlying car parks in the car park refund scheme especially in light of the time it would take for shoppers to walk in from outlying car parks, where a two-hour refund would be most appropriate.

To discuss extending the car park refund scheme to Highcliffe

Given the increasing reports from traders and customers that constant heavy traffic through Highcliffe is compromising trade, to discuss with Local Authorities how heavy vehicles could be banned from the A337 through Highcliffe (except for access), and diverted to the A35 via Walkford.

To request from the Council the analysis that supported the need for no waiting at any time restrictions in Stour Road.

To pass the books of Minutes of the Chamber dating back to the 1930s to the safe-keeping of the Local History Society.

To keep the security situation in Highcliffe on the agenda and to involve Christchurch Council and Tesco in the search for improvements.

To produce a Chamber banner for use at events.

To continue to progress the redevelopment of the subway, including requesting the Council to make provision for further information space for Bargates traders.

To make a donation to a charity nominated by the Food Festival.

To pursue with the Council the deteriorating situation with regard to litter and rubbish around the Borough.
